What we do

A shared space for South Lincoln

James Prentice is the Community Connector for South Lincoln. He works across the villages south of Lincoln covered by South Lincoln Healthcare PCN, roughly from Swinderby in the west to Metheringham in the east, and from Washingborough in the north to Welbourn in the south.

The South Lincoln Partnership Network brings statutory, voluntary, faith and community partners together at regular gatherings, usually on a Wednesday morning at The Venue in Navenby. Everyone is welcome, and you can bring colleagues and local volunteers who might like to come along.

Why it matters here

Why it matters here

South Lincoln is almost all rural, with no market town. Waddington, including the RAF base, is the largest place, followed by Metheringham. Many villages look after their own people well, often through key volunteers and churches, but neighbouring villages rarely connect. Without a car, getting into Lincoln or Sleaford, or across the patch, is hard.

The population is older than average, and many people, especially older people, lost touch with friends, family and the wider area after COVID. Dementia is a growing need. Partners at the gatherings have most often raised loneliness, dementia, digital exclusion and mental health. That is why reducing isolation and loneliness runs through everything this network does.

How it works

Meet, map, follow through

  1. Meet

People from community groups, parish councils, health services, faith communities and residents get together regularly.

  2. Map

Between meetings we keep a picture of what exists locally up to date, and note the gaps people raise.

  3. Follow through

When the room agrees something is worth working on, a small group takes it forward and reports back next time.
