What we do

A shared space for Sleaford

Cat Hall is the Community Connector for Sleaford, working for Bridge Church Lincoln. She covers Sleaford town (including Quarrington, Holdingham and Greylees) and the villages around it, including Ruskington, Cranwell, Heckington, Billinghay and Ancaster.

The Sleaford Area Wellbeing Partnership Gathering brings local groups, churches, charities, NHS teams and council services together about every two months, on a Tuesday morning at Riverside Church in Sleaford. It is an informal, open space to share what's on, get to know each other and work on shared problems together.

Why it matters here

Why it matters here

Sleaford isn't short of good things: two wellbeing hubs (the Meadow in Ruskington and The Door at Riverside Church), a Night Light Café, a community grocery, warm spaces and cafés in village chapels, a community farm and a new wellbeing and learning hub at Station House. What's often missing is the connection between them.

Partners tell us the same things again and again. Services aren't joined up, it's hard to find out what's on (especially for people who aren't online), and patchy, costly transport cuts villagers off from support. This gathering exists to close those gaps, starting with what's already here.

63%
of North Kesteven residents live in rural settlements (North Kesteven District Profile, 2025).

What we heard in September

Job

Improve communication between groups and connections between services, so people using them get a joined-up, straightforward experience.

Home

Better connection, access and awareness, to show the good things already going on and prevent duplication.

Friend

Connection needs to be reachable: transport, buddies, and consistent, well-publicised groups.

How it works

Meet, map, follow through

  1. Meet

People from community groups, parish councils, health services, faith communities and residents get together regularly.

  2. Map

Between meetings we keep a picture of what exists locally up to date, and note the gaps people raise.

  3. Follow through

When the room agrees something is worth working on, a small group takes it forward and reports back next time.

What's happened since the gatherings

  • Done

September gathering: Sent every partner a written summary of what we heard within two days, with the presentation and a contact list, so partners can reach each other directly.

  • Done

July gathering: Helped Ruskington Community Church and Riverside Church recruit a new Wellbeing Lead. The Meadow and The Door reopened on 21 September, with K2 social prescribers and mental health practitioners helping to cover sessions.

  • Done

May gathering: Found a free village venue for the K2 Pain Café. Ruskington Community Church offered a room at the Meadow, and the course started there on 8 October.
